Centennial Camporee

The Major Event of the Anniversary Year

The highlight of the 100th anniversary year will be a council-wide celebration camporee May 21-23 at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds. This weekend event will bring together all of our Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Venturing crews, Sea Scouts ships and Explorer posts in one massive display of Scouting on the cape and islands. The February 6th Centennial Extravaganza at D-Y High School was just a sample of the activity planned for the Centennial Camporee. Many of the non-Scout vendors and organizations at the Extravaganza will be returning in May to join others who could not make both events. Some are already planning bigger and better displays taking advantage of the greater space available outdoors. Presenters include the Cape Cod Salties, Air Station Cape Cod, the Museum of Natural History, Dan West's blacksmithing, local amateur radio clubs and local race cars. Meanwhile, Cub Scout activities will include the annual Chuckwagon Derby, modified for this special event, as well as troop and crew action stations. The Arrow of the Order lodge will be providing food service throughout the weekend and is planning to conduct a call-out ceremony for all candidates elected in their troops this spring.
