Camp
Greenough Patch
Available at the Scout Shop and Camp Trading Post - $4.00

To help Camp
Greenough continue to be a place for boys, young
men, and young
women to experience Scouting's outdoor adventure,
the Cape Cod & Islands Council has created an Alumni
Association. The basic concept of this idea is to allow
those who
have a fondness for the camp a means by which they
can play a role in ensuring that the property continues
to serve the youth of Cape Cod into the next century.
Alumni Association dues will be dedicated, exclusively,
to the operating expenses of Camp Greenough.
While it remains a beautiful
property, years of shrinking budgets and increasing
health and safety concerns by the Boy Scouts of America,
as well as government regulations, have left the camp
in need of some major repairs and much basic maintenance.
Bright spots are the completion of the George W.P.
Magee Memorial shower house and the new shooting sports
area. In addition, a concerted effort is underway to
draw on the resources of our Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout
Troops, and Explorer Posts to tackle any number of
basic maintenance and improvement projects. It is hoped
that the Alumni Association can help to provide some
of the funds that will be needed to make these projects
a reality and also serve as an additional source of
manpower and material resources.
Membership in the Alumni
Association includes: Annual subscription to the Cape & Islands
Scouter, invitation to the cookout and Association
annual meeting during Summer Camp, volunteer opportunities
at Summer Camp, and participation in Camp Beaver Days,
as well as other projects to support the Camp and its
programs. The Council Camping Committee and Executive
Board will administer the Association's funds with
the Council Vice President of Camping serving as its
President.
Please, feel free to
application (printable) with anyone you
know who has an interest in ensuring that the Camp
and Scouting
remain available
to future generations.
